Hitachi has announced a new line of external hard drives with a capacity of more common: 2TB Overall, the brand offers three models of external hard drives and a kit upgrade for PCs, consisting of a disk drive, a SATA cable, screws and required an instruction sheet. In all cases, a 7K2000 is used: the 3.5-inch hard drive of 2TB uses, unlike its competitors, 400GB platters and running at 7 200 rpm, while other manufacturers offer Model 5 400 rpm and 7 200 rpm (in some cases) with trays of 500GB.
External drives
In the end, we begin with the SimpleDrive Classic, a case containing a 3.5-inch hard drive and offer a USB 2.0 interface. Aimed at the general public who is not interested in rates but the simplicity, there are 500 GB version ($ 100) 1TB ($ 130) and 2TB ($ 250). The SimpleTech Pro Drive is more comprehensive, it offers four interfaces: the standard USB 2.0 (slower, but - almost - universal), FireWire (400 and 800) and eSATA (version 3 gigabits / s). As for the first three models: 500GB, 1TB and 2TB for $ 120, $ 170 and $ 300. Finally, the SimpleTech Duo Pro Drive offers a box containing two hard drives (RAID 1 or 0) and a dual interface: USB 2.0 and eSATA. $ 200 for 1 TB (2 x 500 GB), $ 300 for 2TB (2 x 1TB) and $ 500 for 4 TB (2 x 2 TB). Finally, note that the internal hard drive of 2TB is $ 250.
