The new platform called Intel Atom Pineview-D. This platform is designed for miniature desktop computers, otherwise known as nettops. The new platform will appear in January 2010, and now the manufacturer is actively working on its components. Corresponding processor called Pineview, made on 45nm process technology and has built-in graphics core, as well as built-in memory controller, what is fundamentally different from all its predecessors.
Future processor has integrated graphics core supporting DirectX 9, which is still not enough to play HD content, but it was enough to provide video signals at the outputs, VGA and LVDS, through which Nettop can connect to VGA-monitor or LCD-display notebook / netbook. Power consumption of the whole platform is from 12W to 15W, which is quite exceptional. Practically, this means that the processor, chipset Tigerpoint, integrated graphics processor and memory controller, a total consumption of only 12W to 15W, depending on exactly what the Atom CPU used in the system: a single-core or dual core.
This low power consumption, without a doubt a great achievement for Intel, and the total power consumption of devices based on the platform of the future will be significantly less than the energy of modern analogues. The manufacturer is not going to rest on our laurels and intends to bring the future platform for Atom is lower power consumption.
