A user does not need to run Chrome OS on high-speed solid-state drive or on a mechanical hard drive in order to use the new super-fast operating system on netbook. With the help of a third-party add-on open source pre-release version of the operating system Chrome OS (aka Chromium OS) managed to get a more reasonable amount of time loading the operating system, available on the USB-flash drive.

You can see that the entire boot process, from pressing the power button until you see the form with the login takes about 22 seconds. Subtracting from this the time required for the POST and boot BIOS, get a little more than 10 seconds. Impressive, especially with the USB-drive, data transfer rate of which is usually not known. In this experiment we used netbook, Dell Vostro A90, business-oriented version of the now-defunct Inspiron Mini 9, as well as ugly 4GB USB-quests, conundrums Samsung.

In principle, any user can try to repeat this experience on my netbook, using a bootable version of OS Hexxeh Chromium, to which you can find instructions for installing from the Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. People who are looking for adventure can also dig deeper in the code of Chrome OS, and possibly even further customize the operating system. All necessary data is on page draft Chrome OS.
