Today's Atom processors are not much help from Intel's integrated graphics chips for playback of high definition material, or indeed provide the monitors with high desktop resolutions. Intel 945GSE chipset has an integrated GMA950 GPU that is capable of pushing out a maximum resolution of 1900x1200 pixels at 60Hz and may struggle to even cope with 720p dissolved materials. Although we will see improvement in Pineview architecture is launched early next year is 2011 the major changes seem to come.

Cedar View will be Intel's second generation Atom architecture with an integrated GPU. Unlike Pineview will Cedar View to match the CPU and GPU on the same silicon, both manufactured with 32 nanometer technology.

The result will be a processor with a GPU not only supports DirectX 10.1 but also OpenGL 3.0, and possesses much higher capacity than today's counterparts. Graphics chip will be able to play 1080p material at 120Hz and through various digital interfaces such as HDMI 1.3a or DVI displays to provide a maximum resolution of 2560x1600 pixels at 60Hz.

Unfortunately, arriving Cedar View and Cedar Trail-D platform, not only in 2011, so until we have hope for Pineview, which will be Intel's Atom CPU with integrated graphics chip.
