Broadcom offers a new expansion card for laptops that is interesting: it includes a controller Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controller on the same PCB, while the current implementations require a card for Wi-Fi and a module of extension (usually wired USB internally) for Bluetooth. With his new card Mini Card (PCI-Express for laptops), Broadcom will therefore enable manufacturers of portable PC to save space and simplify the design of motherboards. It is certainly an advantage rather interesting for Asus, Acer and Lenovo have chosen this card for their next product entry level (netbooks and conventional laptops), then Intel and cards dedicated to the platform Centrino remain the default choice in the high end.

The company hopes its combo solution will represent 20% of its sales in 2010, and the quality of the chip manufacturer in this field may suggest.
