The European Commission has confirmed that it had opened an investigation into manufacturers of CRTs around the probable existence of two cartels that would agree unlawfully. If the CRT is dying at home, they are still very present in countries in developing and would generate substantial profits.

Both cartels that would dismantle the European Commission differ depending on the type of screen, one being formed around CRT monitors for computers, the other around the cathode ray tube televisions. We learn of the Commission that the investigation is not new, but the investigation dates back to 2007. Are particularly relevant to manufacturers like Samsung and Matsushita.

Yesterday, Philips has also received a request from the Commission. The Dutch brand will be, too, heard by Brussels. If a cartel is beautiful and well proven by Brussels, the fine could amount to some 10% of the turnover of the undertakings concerned. Suffice to say that these brands are the accusations of the European Commission very seriously.
