The 2010 version of SiSoftware Sandra just been published by his publisher. The famous off-road benchmark includes a number of innovations, but those which interest us most are probably those for the GPGPU. The performance of AMD Stream technology, NVIDIA CUDA, DirectX Compute OpenCL and can now be compared. OpenCL is undoubtedly the most important application as it is compatible with any GPU supporting GPGPU functions.

The numbers have fallen, and AMD has not failed to publish a press release for the occasion. Indeed, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 pulverizes the competition with a score 2.7 times higher than the GeForce GTX 295 from NVIDIA. Finally, one can only welcome the arrival of the first independent benchmark relative to the GPGPU in all its forms. The hope is that it will not be optimized in every kind from the manufacturers at the expense of optimization of real applications.
