The desktop computer market is almost entirely focused on multicore processors, but the market for mobile computers and handheld devices is still somewhat limited in this respect. There are performance gains to be made today, but power consumption and cost are two major speed bumps. But only within three years is expected to range from smartphones to netbooks and MID devices also rely on multi-core CPUs.

According to analyst firm In-Stat, we will next year, 2010, to see how the doors opened for multi-core processors in netbooks and smartphones. While the consumer electronics market will take the longest time and place devices with multiple processor cores during 2012/2013.

In 2013 expected 88% of all mobile processors make use of multiple CPU cores, a development that has already started the next year with new processors from both ARM and x86 manufacturers.

In addition to multiple CPU cores are also effective GPU chipset which is close at hand.
