According to the source, AMD is going to make a new addition to its line of processors Phenom II, in order to better compete with Intel Lynnfield and upcoming processors Clarkdale. The model, named Phenom II X4 975, should go somewhere in the first half of 2010 to provide increased speed of 200MHz compared to the current flagship. That is, the frequency of the new AMD processor will be equal 3.6GGts with heat release 140Vt, like the original X4 965.
According to, AMD can lower the heat Phenom II X4 975 to 125W with a new stepping for Deneb. Price of the new processor is expected to near $ 200 per batch of 1000 pieces, that is approximately equal to the current price of Phenom II X4 965. Sometime next year, this processor will be removed from the pedestal of a new six-core model, which is said to be compatible with existing motherboards and AM2 + and AM3 will compete with more high-performance processors Core i7.
That chip, code-named Thuban, is expected to operate at lower clock speeds, will have a 6Mb L3 cache and an integrated DDR3 memory controller.
