Microsoft has released to its new tool to turn a key into a USB installation media for Windows 7. As promised, he also put the source code online.

Atonement

Almost a month after his mea culpa ("Microsoft and open source Atonement"), Microsoft has kept its promise and bowed to the demands of the GPLv2 license when he had raped his partner copy code that does not belong to him ("Microsoft stole code for Windows 7 USB?").

The program is available on its website codeplex, along with the zip file containing the source code of the software. The Microsoft Store has not been updated at the time of this writing.

Little more

Microsoft noted that the code from ImageMaster is written in. NET and C # project that uses the WIX Votive plugin for Visual Studio 2008. The editor says that those who wish to format their USB drive themselves can disable this feature of the Microsoft program by modifying the registry. Simply create a key "HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ ISO Backup Tool", then a new DWORD entry "DisableFormat" which has a value of 1. This allows those who wish to customize the content of their key installation. It must, however, that it is correctly formatted as boot media before using the tool Windows 7 Microsoft USB.

Those using Windows XP will have previously installed. NET Framework v2 and v2 API ImageMastering before launching the tool.
