MSI is actively preparing the release of a new motherboard, the P55-GD85. This new model incorporates for the first time the new USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb / s. The Taiwanese company has a little delay on his countrymen ASUS and Gigabyte, who propose such solutions for several weeks.
The P55-GD85 adopts as its name indicates Intel P55 Express chipset, and a socket LGA 1156. It supports DDR3-2600 on four slots, and has a power DrMOS 8 2 phases. Two PCI Express x16 slots support the SLI or CrossFire configurations, while there are also two PCI slots and two PCIe x1. It was entitled to two Serial ATA ports to 6 Gb / s along with seven others to 3 Gb / s and an eSATA port. The rear panel includes outputs Gigabit LAN, HD audio to 7.1 channels, USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ports.
MSI card complete with features such as the CB engineering, control points of the voltage V-Check, APS (Active Phase Switching), which reduces consumption in idle as well as Power and Reset buttons. To ensure the flow delivered to the Marvell chip (SATA 6 Gb / s) and NEC (USB 3.0), the Taiwanese manufacturer has installed a bridge PLX PCI Express signed on the PCB of the card.
We do not yet know when the MSI P55-GD85 is available, nor do we know its recommended retail price. It should however be logically more expensive than the P55-GD80, sold a little over 180 euros.
