Default NVidia chips are installed in 80% of the Calpella platform for notebooks with discre

Since that Intel still does not have discrete graphics chips for notebook or desktop computers, in addition, the manufacturer overturned been scheduled for early next year release Larrabee, then users who are tired of the endless choice between ATI and nVidia, nothing remains but to turn to integrated graphics Intel GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator). Of course, this is not a schedule that would satisfy many users, and they still have to choose between nVidia and ATI. With next-generation Calpella platform based devices, which will be either a quad-core 45nm processor Lynnfield, a dual-core 32nm processor Arrandale, from nVidia has every chance of success.

With a platform Montevina, this summer, the advantage was with ATI, but since this winter, the share nVidia will be saddled with more laptops with discrete graphics. The source alleges that in the end nVidia chips will be almost 80% of laptops with discrete graphics on the platform Calpella, while the share of ATI will remain little more than 20%. Summer nVidia announced that the summer ad 40 nm graphics chips were in good agreement with the postponement of the platform Calpella, and this is one of the reasons why nVidia chips will be in most laptops. ATI is preparing to release in January, three new mobile graphics processor supporting DirectX 11, but it's too late to create devices on Calpella, which have been completed long ago. From a technical point of view to updating the appearance of Calpella, both companies may have an equal chance, because by this time, both products will have time to present its mobile solutions with support for DirectX 11.

Currently ATI diligently increases its market share in notebook graphics. Accurate data are not yet known, but the manufacturer seems to have conquered a substantial part of the market nVidia Montevina. A few weeks ago from laptops with discrete graphics that are sold in several retail chains, nearly two-thirds were from ATI, and only one-third from nVidia. That was enough to help recover ATI lost market share, but the struggle is still far from complete, but the platform Calpella nVidia sort of bypasses the ATI. It seems that in this market segment nVidia and ATI ride on a swing, because in each cycle, they change places.
