Our sources have released the first pictures of a motherboard unpublished. Signed MSI, it has the AMD 890FX chipset, scheduled for second quarter 2010. This new chipset will be compatible with AMD processors socket AM3 platform and train with the Leo Thuban future processor (Phenom II six hearts). The MSI 890FX-GD70 also has the new SB850 and Southbridge account are six Serial ATA ports to 6 Gb / s, run natively. The new chipset supports always a PATA-133 port, which is no longer the case since long time at Intel.
MSI takes advantage of the large number of PCIe lanes available (part relative to P55) to put six x16 slots on the card. Four of these slots can be wired as x8, perfect for the CrossFireX with four graphics cards. A PCI slot is available for compatibility with older boards. The processor can count on 5-phase DrMOS for food, while four DDR3 slots allow its integrated memory controller to speak.
The rear panel of the MSI 890FX-GD70 includes connectors for HD audio, Gigabit LAN, but also an eSATA port, one FireWire, USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0. These are apparently managed by a NEC chip, which tends to confirm that the new interface is not supported by the AMD chipset.
MSI should submit its 890FX-GD70 at CES in Las Vegas in January. Other motherboard manufacturers should also disclose their solutions based on the new AMD chipset.
