The Board ASUS met last December 11 to discuss the future of its subsidiary Pegatron. The latter was formed in 2007 at the ASUS split into three separate companies. It is mainly responsible for production, including motherboards and graphics cards, but also components and devices for other manufacturers such as Apple and HP. If all goes as planned, Pegatron will be a completely independent company from the first July 2010.
ASUS will retain a minority share (25%) while the rest goes to shareholders, the Taiwanese will also reduce its capital accordingly. This change will allow Pegatron to become more competitive as a manufacturer of white label, while that ASUS will focus on creating innovative products.
This development is important when you consider that the company was founded on the values of its first motherboard 486, designed by the chief engineer of the Taiwanese manufacturer, which then have no functional processor, had to design the card entirely from the features provided by Intel!
It remains for us to wait to see what this change will bring to ASUS.
