If the acquisition of Sun Microsystems, Oracle raises as many problems for European authorities to the competition, especially vis-ą-vis the MySQL folder. The management system databases free falling into the hands of the main commercial player in this market.
But the European Commission has been reassured about the future of MySQL, Oracle has made ten commitments on a formal document guaranteeing openness of MySQL in the future. A schedule for five years, which should ease tensions between Oracle and Brussels.
Tensions eased
These commitments include several crucial points, such as extension of OEM licensing agreements through 2014, the integration of a storage engine for MySQL but also the further development of MySQL. Visibly happy with these proposals, the European Commission issued a statement saluting. The file review should result in a favorable light this new development.
