Asus prepares its competitors as the arrival of the Intel platform Pinetrail. Aimed at netbooks, it is based on the Atom Pinetrail and the "chipset" Tiger Point. The new Atom will integrate many functions currently present in the chipset as a DDR2 memory controller, but also an integrated graphics solution. The first Eee PCs will adopt Pinetrail probably 1005P and 1005PE. They retain the style "Seashell" which succeeded well Taiwanese manufacturer. The screen retains its size of 10 inches, and resolution of 1024x600 pixels.

One Atom N450 is present, as well as 1GB of DDR3, and the GMA 3150 for display. The storage will be provided by a disk of 160 GB or 250, while the connectivity includes 10/100 Ethernet and WiFi. ASUS complete its configuration with a 0.3 megapixel webcam and a battery of 6 cells, offering a range of almost 12 hours! ASUS will offer its new Eee PC 1005P and 1005PE with Windows 7 Starter. An English shop referenced these models, 270 and 300 €. They should be launched in January.
