Broadcom announced a new chip platform for its Crystal HD after the BCM70012, BCM70015 the following. This chip is dedicated to decoding of HD formats, has been validated by Intel's new Atom platform: the GMA 3150 (just like the GMA 950 and unlike the GMA 500) is unable to physically handle the codecs used for video high definition.

Flash, Blu-ray, etc..

The chip to be integrated on a motherboard or on a Mini Card (PCI Express), supports DXVA 2.0 technology (which allows it to be used directly by Windows 7) and materially accelerates decoding of H.264 , VC1 and MPEG-2. Specifically, it is possible to relieve the CPU when playing a Blu-ray or content encoded in Flash (using version 10.1, still in beta). The impact on consumption of the machine should be relatively low and even zero in some cases: the increased consumption through use of the card is sometimes lower than the increase in consumption by the CPU load.

The price is not known, but should not exceed 10 to $ 15 for OEM and maps of the previous generation (BCM70012) are worth less than $ 30.
