At One Laptop Per Child, OLPC or XO was a flop. Just look at this! Instead of just making cheap, a simple machine, which would be designed for developing countries, presumably, $ 100 laptop, instead, Nicholas Negroponte (Nicholas Negroponte) confuses all too simplistic interface. However, as time passes and technology develops, the growth of Atom allows us to offer low-cost netbooks that are available for virtually all people with a few hundred dollars.
Now, Nick made a XO-3. The new model will be in familiar green-and-white coloring, only this time it's a tablet (surprise, right?). XO-3 will provide its 800MHz processor and a screen from 8.5 "to 11" in 2010, when, hopefully, technology will produce something that is essentially a giant iPod Touch, for just $ 75.
But do incredibly cheap entertainment device for developing countries (for what else may need a tablet, if not as portable media center?) Is not the only task for the group of OLPC. Negroponte said the OLPC 1.5 will appear in January and will cost approximately $ 200 and OLPC 1.75 will be released in 2011, while the first examples of models with two (sensory?) Screens will appear in May this year.
It would be nice to see all these devices, but the models and charitable pledges not as good as the real working samples. Nevertheless, the picture looks good.
