Following the lead of Intel and Corsair, OCZ company has released a new firmware for its high-performance solid-state drive series Summit, providing support to TRIM at work under the operating system Microsoft Windows 7, and providing clean-up of debris under Windows Vista and XP. Update VBM19C1Q, available on theOCZ site, promises to restore productivity drives Summit, a free space and consolidating the data blocks.

Series SSD drives Corsair Performance and OCZ Summit based controllers Samsung, thus so closely-grouped releases new firmware is not accidental. As usual, OCZ warns users to update the firmware make a backup copy of data, as in the firmware update the contents of the disc will be completely erased.

To install the update, you must create a bootable USB-drive or floppy disk (if anyone still remembers what it is), set the controller drives the motherboard to the IDE mode, download the utility and follow the instructions on the screen. More information is available here.
