Since 2009 the line between netbooks and notebooks primary level has been greatly eroded, then there is an interesting question: how long netbooks will remain relevant and active market? However, as the old year has passed under the banner of the global economic crisis, relatively low prices make netbooks hugely to consumers.

According to recent DisplaySearch, supply netbooks this year rose to 33.3mln, more than double last year's results, 16.4mln netbooks. In terms of segment revenues reached $ 11.40mlrd, which is 72% more than $ 6.65mlrd derived from this segment last year.

Despite increased supply, low prices for netbooks actually reduced revenue for the entire notebook industry by 12% to $ 109.4mln. More categories: revenue from the ultra-portable notebook with a diagonal of 11.6 "and 12" fell by 23% compared with last year, to $ 6.9mlrd, revenue from sales of standard laptops with screens from 13 "to 16.4" fell by 13% up to $ 80.3mlrd, while revenue from large notebooks, intended for the replacement of desktop computers declined by 12%, to $ 10.8mlrd.

DisplaySearch also suggests that the supply of netbooks in 2010 will grow by about 19%, ie, it will grow more slowly than at present, with the emergence of a more functional ultra-thin notebook at around $ 500.
