Manufacturers of notebooks, including Acer, Asustek Computer and Micro-Star International (MSI), recently changed its focus on the segment of ultra-thin notebook designed for both business and individual users, as reported industrial sources. The main advantages of ultra-thin notebook are battery life and mobility, and the consumers' attention is mainly focused on multimedia playback and support for popular games. Inconsistency in the views of producers and users of the ideal laptop meant that sales of ultra-thin models were lower than expected.

Company Acer has recently launched a series Timeline new ultrathin laptops, targeted at business users: Travelmate 8371 (13.3), 8471 (14.1) and 8571 (15.6), which will be sold at prices ranging from $ 899-999 in the batch of 1000 pieces. Asustek has recently begun to advertise their UL series of ultra-thin notebook technology to support Turbo 33, which also targeted primarily at business customers. Manufacturer expects the ultra-thin notebooks to be competitive product on the business market in 2010. In the near future MSI will also begin production of ultra-thin notebooks of its new series of X. In these laptops will be used several new developments to meet the needs of business customers.

It is expected that in 2009 the supply of ultra-thin notebooks made of six million units, representing 3.7% of global notebook shipments, but in 2010 is expected to increase deliveries of such models to 24mln units, which amount to 12% of global notebook shipments, according to Research.
