Hercules, the company converted into a (particular) after years of graphics cards offers a new version of its USB soundcard, the Gamesurround Muse XL Pocket LT3. The sound card, compatible with USB Audio and therefore used without drivers on a recent system, does not necessarily better quality than HD Audio codec but has the advantage of offering more output than typically found on portable PCs (and even some desktop PCs): it has three 3.5mm jacks on the back for connecting an analog Kit 5.1 (front, rear, center and subwoofer) and three jacks 3 , 5 mm front (line input, microphone input and headphone output). Good idea, the volume control is on the same box and it is also possible to completely cut the sound very quickly.
Not really replace a real sound card, this little card (sold about 30 €) can support a Kit 5.1 or analog jacks offer to devices that lack them. Incidentally, the headphone jack is a priori "cleaner" than those found on notebook PCs; the sound card is removed from the majority of components that can infect the exit.
