Sony is said to have taken solid-state storage to a new level with its upcoming notebook models in the VAIO Z series. The manufacturer shall in their product data sheet to speak of a storage solution that is addressed as follows;"SSD RAID0: 64GB/128GB x 4". Exactly what that means revealing not but what is clear is that four separate solid-state devices connected together in a RAID 0 configurations to improve writing and presentation in your laptop.
Sony boasts that the storage solution for a 1GB file in 4 seconds (250MB / s) whiles a 5400 RPM drive would be capable of the same for almost 24 seconds.
With lack of space in a laptop, it is most likely on a flash card-based solution like we have seen earlier in the consumer market by, inter alia, Photo Real. More information about Sony's VAIO Z series teaches we get during CES later this week.
