The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has just published the specification 1.2 of the DisplayPort standard. Still struggling to succeed against a DVI end of life, but widespread, and an HDMI increasingly popular despite its cost, but DisplayPort is not uninteresting. ^ This new revision is important, it provides doubling the flow, which passes to 21.6 GB / s, sufficient bandwidth to support multiple screens, both with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels or four 1920 x 1200 pixels (or even one in 3840 × 2400) .
DisplayPort can now pass a signal Ethernet 10/100 or USB, with a maximum throughput of 720 Mb / s. The audio is enhanced with many new opportunities. To end the 3D enthusiasts will be pleased to know that DP cable can now reach 240 Hz at 1920x1080, twice more than the 3D Vision currently offers.
