One of the first combined expansion cards for USB 3.0 and SATA 6GB / s interface has now appeared in stores. ASUS U3S6 appeared on the radar during the month of September last year and uses the PCI Express x4 frontend to feed the connected devices with a maximum of 2GB / s. The circuits on the card are the usual suspects; NEC D720200F1 manages two USB 3.0 ports while the Marvell 88SE9123 chip keeps track of the two SATA 6GB / s ports.
For a card with combined SATA 6GB / s and USB 3.0 support is the price actually fully affordable. Between 450-500 crowns may be expected to pay for the card that procedure is not in stock, but now in all cases listed in two computer stores.
An interesting upgrade option for those who are interested in the new storage format, but no plans to change the motherboard in the near future.
