DRAM manufacturers accelerate the transfer of their factories to produce chips DDR3, as prices for DDR2 incredibly decreased.

The source reports that Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) and its joint venture with Elpida Memory, Rexchip Electronics, are increasing their production of DDR3 chips, and that soon the proportion of DDR3 in their products will not exceed 70%. In the third quarter share of DDR3 at PSC and Rexchip was about 0-5% of the total production of chips memory.

Similar actions by companies Nanya Technology and Inotera Memories. Nanya wants in the first quarter of 2010 more than half of chips, produced in conjunction with Inotera, were DDR3 chips. According to the report DRAMeXchange, the results of the fourth quarter of last year DDR3 chips accounted for 90% of the volume of production Nanya and 20% percent of the total production of DRAM Inotera.

DRAMeXchange reports that the contract price of 2GB DDR3 modules, which are virtually unchanged since November 2009, in the first half of January made a sudden jump of 2-5%. In contrast, 2Gb DDR2 segment remains unchanged. The source also noted a significant increase in demand for chips DDR3.
