Broadcom offers a new generation of chips for devices like Blu-ray, and smartphones - generalizing - all multimedia devices that may be present in a house. Interfaced to USB, the three chips are compatible with 802.11n and can reach 300 Mbps (versions 450 and 600 Mbps standard, apart from the difficulty of implementation in a USB key, would be limited by the band bandwidth of USB 2.0).
Engraved in 65nm, the three chips are alike. The entry-level, BCM43235, is limited to the frequency of 2.5 GHz, the BCM43236 is also working in 5 GHz mode (more efficient but loses compatibility with Wi-Fi 11g/11b) and the BCM43238 turn is dedicated devices to stream video. The three chips include memory RAM and an ARM processor to offload the host CPU and Broadcom chips indicates that work under Windows but also Linux, which is a good place for equipment for the board.
