Flash drives from Plextor will be produced by the joint venture PLDS (including Lite-On and Philips)...

PLDS is a joint venture established in Taiwan by Philips and Lite-On. It is this company that will handle the production of flash drives sold under the brand Plextor. The firm will be Japan's only manages the sale as well as marketing of these SSD 64 plus 128 GB the two entities there are no punches as they hope to win no less than 10% of worldwide flash drives in 2010! According PLDS cost capacity among SSD as well as HDD is at present 6:1; it was 10:1 in 2008 and will drop to 5:1 in 2011 or else even 4:1 in 2012.

The lower court in GB should allow greater penetration of this new technology in the coming years, even if the replacement HDD as storage media # 1 is not valid. Plextor and Lite-On will probably not be the last company specializing in optical units to go into the DSS. This new market is indeed in full progress, and especially the margins are much higher than the side of the optical units...
