OCZ, a company very active in the firmware of its SSD offers a new version for its storage devices based controller Barefoot home Indilinx. We speak here of Vertex and other Agility, then. The firmware 1.5 succeeds couple 1.4/1.41 offering the best of both worlds: the medium of the TRIM control on Windows 7 and a garbage collector independent file system (unlike Samsung). Specifically, the firmware can avoid (almost) complete loss of performance due to the wear management in effectively optimizing the space available.
The firmware comes in the form of an iso file to burn to a CD, and a good idea (unlike some earlier versions) does not entirely erase the DSS, even if a backup prior to installing the firmware obviously (much) advised. Note nonetheless that the compatibility is not optimal: the firmware is different for Vertex and Agility (the latter being the basic versions of the first line) and Turbo versions (overclocked at the cache) n ' has no access to this new firmware, like Vertex EX 120 GB (SLC memory). Finally, users of recent SSD, which are originally equipped with a 1.42 firmware, must not update the firmware.
