The American committee in charge of regulating international trade (ITC), has just made its decision on the case binder and Rambus and NVIDIA says that the GPU maker has infringed three patents.
Rambus has the wind at your back
It would seem that Samsung was right to settle their dispute amicably. It was, indeed, related to Rambus a similar case that ended when the Korean has agreed to pay $ 900 million (approx. EUR 640 million) in exchange for the necessary licenses and partnership on the NAND development ("Samsung gives $ 900 million to Rambus").
NVIDIA a big risk
One can imagine that NVIDIA will also want to resolve this lawsuit amicably, after the adverse outcome and agreement from Samsung. The Chameleon may, in fact, be prohibited from importation and sale of its graphics cards in the United States, patents on memory controllers used by the firm. We are still not there yet, as NVIDIA has appeal, which will postpone the implementation of sanctions.
