Google would be well influence the future of the DNS protocol with a system designed to speed up internet...

Last December, we introduced Google Public DNS, a DNS service provided by Google as faster and safer. Today, we learn that Google just made a few proposals to the agency DNSext for the improvement of this protocol. Indeed, the Internet giant would love to see the standard change in the future. And to make it faster, Google has thought of a rather clever.

Thus, by analyzing the IP address of a user's location and therefore, an enhanced version of the DNS format might be able to orient directly to servers closest to him which would greatly speed data exchange in the pipes of the Web.

Of course, this proposal does pose some problems for defenders of freedom of the Internet, but Google would have thought of everything as the system described does not store location information used. It remains to be seen whether DNSext will be receptive to such developments for the future of the DNS protocol...
