Semiconductor manufacturer, Samsung is just like Intel at the forefront of the development of new manufacturing technologies. It has now announced that the first manufacturer to produce DDR3 memory chip using new efficient 30 nanometer technology. Samsung calls its new memory chips for the most efficient on the market and will make it possible to create memory system with additional low power consumption. But new, more efficient manufacturing techniques promise even bombastic memory modules.
Samsung claims it will commence mass development of its new modules in the second half of 2010 with a 4GB DDR3 memory modules with 30nm development technology will arrive with a power utilization of not more than 3 watts per hour. Which corresponds to almost 3% of the total energy utilization of a laptop.
As judge against with the similar 50nm-based DRAM modules, the power utilization ought to be decreased by as much as 30%. The innovative 30nm technology also allows producers to lessen the development costs at larger memory modules, which could mean a larger market for 4GB modules in 2010.
