Intel is preparing a new wave of processors medium and high-end...

The 2010 edition of CES in Las Vegas saw Intel launch many new processors. The majority of these positions, however, are the midrange, the high end; we saw nothing of nine since the i5 Core i7 &'Lynnfield' last September. The situation will be changing from that quarter. The Santa Clara giant will launch its first processor public six cores, the Core i7-980X "Gulftown. The good news is that contrary to what we originally thought, although Intel will offer a cheaper version, the Core i7-970. It will be clocked at 3.2 GHz and 3.46 GHz can achieve with the Turbo Boost. Also in LGA-1366 socket, it will support DDR3-1066 triple-channel, have a link to QPI 6.4GT / s and has a TDP of 130 watts. It will launch in the third quarter, likely costs of the current Core i7-960, 562 dollars.

In the second quarter, Intel will also unveil two new processors LGA-1156. The Core i5-680 is a "Clarkdale, so a dual core engraved to 32 nanometers, its frequency is 3.6 GHz (3.8 GHz Turbo Boost). The Core i7-880 will be on him Lynnfield, then a quad-core 45nm, clocked at 3.06 GHz (Turbo Boost to 3.73 GHz). The Core i7-920, launched in November 2008 with the first wave of the CPU socket LGA-1366, come the end of life, before disappearing in the second quarter, it is replaced by the Core i7-930, already launched, but reserved OEMs yet.

And one more thing, in the first quarter 2011, Intel will launch its novel design. Sandy Bridge microprocessors will forever be embedded in 32nm development; they will also include two or else four cores, DDR3 memory controller with two channels along with an incorporated graphics solution (rather than embedded as it is currently on the Clarkdale). Their TDP will be 65 watts (dual-core) and 95 watts (dual-core and quad-core). The good news? They will adopt a new socket, the LGA-1155 chipset and will require a series of 6 "Cougar Point”, in other words, a new motherboard! And already the official roadmap puts us in doubt; it does mention the Serial ATA to 6 Gb / s but not USB 3.0...
