SilverStone has just launched the HDDBOOST, a device that allows you to associate a DSS format to a 2.5-inch hard drive, to use it as a kind of buffer.
The HDDBOOST is indeed able to copy the DSS to the most frequently used, which in practice allows for faster access. The writing of data continues however to be on the disk to make space for more storage, at the expense of speed. An interesting idea on paper ...
According to the manufacturer, this solution would be able to increase approximately 70% flows read from a hard drive alone. This system would also extend the life of the SSD as the records are considerably reduced. The HDDBOOST should be available this month at a rate of about 37 euros.
