Although the message about nVidia GTX 480 was a surprise, information about future branding of AMD was not a surprise. Upcoming six-core desktop processors, codenamed Thuban will bear the name of AMD Phenom II X6. The brand has recently been mentioned in the press release, Biostar, the Platform for Leo.

In the same press release reported the name of the new generation AMD chipset, 890GX, which will be the direct descendant’s chipset 790GX. Here, again, no surprises.

Platform AMD Leo will appear in March 2010 and, according to rumors, will consist of a processor upgrade Phenom II X4, processor Phenom II X6 and chipset 890GX.
