During a quarterly conference call nVidia her representative confirmed that the company was able to put more products in the fourth quarter of last year, but supply constrained by problems of supply. The Company believes that the loss of $ 100mln to $ 150mln due to lack of 40 nm wafers.
nVidia has confirmed that shipments of 40 nm chips for graphics cards were limited throughout the world, and that this situation will not change for the better in the first half of this year. TSMC, as the main partner and producer of wafers for chip nVidia, obviously, should have been more actively to address the deficit, but as and nVidia, and ATI had underestimated demand for the fourth quarter, they are also responsible for the lack of supply.
Nevertheless, nVidia claims that TSMC has fulfilled "an incredible job," and that it has improved production yields. Apparently, ATI also will not complain about the yield of TSMC, since the manufacturer has sold over two million 40 nm video cards with DirectX 11 for the past few months.
