Intel on Monday will officially launch the latest processor Atom N470, which should yield increased productivity and longer battery life for netbooks, a source familiar with Intel's plans said.
Atom chips to make small, low-cost laptops, called notebooks, which are designed to search the Internet and run the application performance. Processor N470 chip will run at speeds of 1.83GHz, making it faster Intel chip for netbooks today.
The new processor is based on the new second-generation Atom processor architecture that Intel released in December. Intel announced during the first chip belonging to the architecture, the processor Atom N450, which runs at speeds of 1.66GHz. The processor can be found in the netbooks at $ 299 and $ 499.
Systems based on the N470 can begin shipping early next week, the source said. Some PC makers have shown netbook processor N470 at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year in Las Vegas, but no systems, not yet officially shipped.
Intel officials declined to comment on the product.
The architecture includes a graphics processor and memory controller inside the chip Atom, which allows faster system and graphics performance than its predecessor. Intel said that the integrated graphics processor can smoothly play 720p high-definition video.
New Atom chips are also additional efficient power, which could make bigger battery life in some netbooks. A few netbooks have shown the battery more than 10 Hr. the addition also makes the chip smaller, which permits PC manufacturers to build smaller and lighter netbooks.
Intel also offers Atom D410 and D510 desktop processors low cost.
More improvements to the Atom netbooks are on the TAP, including the increase schedule in early March, when NVIDIA INTRODUCES Ion 2 graphics platform. Platform couples processors Atom processor NVIDIA Graphics lead to a full high-definition video for netbooks. Acer has already announced netbook Aspire One 532G, with ion 2 platforms.
