Design

People concerned in purchasing this netbook and significant style is reptilian skin-like wrapping on Eee PC 1008P known as Digi-Wave by Asus. It is stylish, well-crafted and does not look out of place one bit on netbook supports to industrial designer Karim Rashid. Like 11.6-inch Eee PC 1101HA, Eee PC 1008P is intended to resemble seashell with cover closed down and to few degree it does so effectively.

This netbook is like to Eee PC 1008HA means it is slim than other netbooks from Acer, HP and light at 1.1-kg. This has cover flaps on side edges like Eee PC 1008HA in which are included different connectivity ports; not only is this in keeping with Eee PC 1008P's overall style measure, but cover flaps are helpful in avoiding dust from entering ports. This netbook has 10.1-inch shiny LED-backlit display. It is depending on Intel's Pinetrail Atom chip Atom N450 1.66-GHz. There's 1GB of RAM, 250GB, and Windows 7, but only two USB ports minor frustration. Eee PC 1008P doesn't have Gigabit Ethernet, but contains 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. There is 1.3MP webcam recessed on top screen bezel which is sufficient for video chats. Also obtain 500GB of extended online storage to save data on cloud but you don't have a broadband connection.


Performance

Netbook screen is better to read text and see online videos. The remote keyboard sports firmly bundled keys which do not bend and give feedback typing on Eee PC 1008P's keyboard is easy. Its symbol enabled touchpad is good textured helps navigating mouse on screen, for feedback. Single strip mouse button takes time getting utilized to. Audio from Eee PC 1008P's onboard speaker is not good, but plug in pair of headphones and it's as good as sound from other netbook.

Synthetic benchmarks hooked Asus Eee PC 1008 P's performance like other Pinetrail netbooks we have reviewed. Asus Eee PC 1008P's WorldBench 6 score of 33 is average. We could not play smooth, stutter-free 720p HD videos on Eee PC 1008P. But we could multitask with up to 3 programs browsing Web, listening music, and working on spreadsheets. Joint battery life of Eee PC 1008P's two 3-cell batteries over 5 hours in synthetic tests easily expected over 8 hours of browsing Web over Wi-Fi on conventional battery plan.
