It would appear that these drivers are unable to effectively manage the fan speed with some cards, which would result in an abnormal rise in temperature of the GPU, then a drop in performance or even death pure and simple graphics suite overheating.

It is strongly recommended for people who downloaded and installed the drivers back to any previous versions (196.21, or 196.34 beta), which a priori does not encounter the same problem. Meanwhile, ATI has not yet reacted officially on the subject ...
