Cisco introduced the CRS-3 (Carrier Routing System), the ISP router that can handle up to 322 Tbits per second in a configuration multichassis. It is simply the largest of its kind router.
Much information
With that kind of bandwidth, all men, women and children in China can make videoconferencing simultaneously and the entire U.S. national library can be downloaded in just over a second. Similarly, all films ever made may be sent streaming in less than four seconds.
This is breathtaking, but shows the Cisco wants to offer a product that is capable of supporting tomorrow's needs, while we anticipate a 12-fold increase in traffic generated by video and by 66 from the phones by 2013. Within three years, the volume of data exchanged over the Internet has been multiplied by five.
Internet Evolution
CRS-3 replaces the CRS-1, representing a backward system, the ISP can update the system by replacing the rails needed, without having to shut down the system. AT & T, U.S. ISP, has already tested the SRC-3 with 100 Gigabit Ethernet technology in New Orleans and Miami.
Cisco has also thought of consumption as the CR-3 requires less than 3 W per Gigabit. He must now wait until the ISPs do not update with a starting price of $ 90 000 , one imagines that this will take time.
