In 2007, Cisco said that WiMAX technology will provide incredible ability to develop broadband connection to the Internet in developing countries. However, whether the market fairly soon, WiMAX technology proved Left inferior technology as a basis for LTE mobile fourth generation (4G).
Cisco has decided to stop production of WiMAX base station and modem to focus on the IP network device which is always their main expertise.
Thanks to the acquisition of Starent Networks Corporation and feedback on, Cisco is part of the production equipment to connect the mobile telecommunication infrastructure with focus on IP protocol (then, the analysts reviews high procurement cost of the Cisco, as the evidence about to give up WiMAX towards LTE).
Navini's products do not play an important role in the major WiMAX network. Even projects with the world's largest WiMAX network of Clearwire, Cisco will not provide the base stations which are devices to IP networks.
