It took a while, but Google has built its move as a local shopping list gatekeeper. The company said Thursday that it will give mobile device users list checks on local stores, permitting them to see if products are available.

The program has already sign up some key retailers with Sears, Best buy, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, and West Elm. Rest sure those local trades, which ever more rely on Google to send business their way, will pursue suit.

These local list checks have been talked about for years. In 2006, Google, perceive, and the Kelsey Group outlined retailing's future and it sounded many like what the search giant is progressing out today.
