A study by IDC shows that the costs of manufacturing netbooks Chrome OS are more important than Windows models, which should be a serious drag on the system from Google.
Too many components
A system Chrome requires the installation of a relatively powerful graphics chip, an accelerometer and other sensors that are rapidly climbing costs for manufacturers. The technical features of Chrome machines are still under NDA, which means that manufacturers are forced to remain silent until the marketing of the first models. Nevertheless, rumors coming out of factories suggests that the first machines would not be as interesting as had been expected.
Google share with a serious disability
Indeed, in addition to an uncompetitive price, the software park Chrome is much lower than that of Windows.Analysts also believe that the idea of running all applications in a browser and automatically having to be connected to the Internet almost always goes against the habits of users of netbooks which spend on average 40% of their time offline, according to IDC.
Experts fear that at last the poor performance of the integrated ARM not repel more than one, which explains why they expected to sell just 2 million per year ARM netbooks in 2011 on the 240 million units annually planned next year.
