Razer has taken a bold jump in gaming equality as it looks to remove the long standing bias against left hander gamers.

As a leftie, I have often been disappointed when hearing about the latest gaming devices specifically modified for the world’s around 87% right-handers. I have been not able to understand the greats, such as 90% of Logitech’s lineup, and forced select between the rather slim pickings of perfectly symmetrical devices in its place.

Razer has now taken on the bold task of developing the wildly popular Death Adder mouse it is specifically designed for left-handed gamers and this one in particular could not be more excited.

“Leftie gamers have long been requesting that we develop a gaming rank mouse that is intended exclusively for the left-handed gaming community and we really value the feedback we obtain from our users,” said Robert ‘Razerguy’ Krakoff, president of Razer USA. “Not a lot of gamers know this, but I am a southpaw myself and feel truly excited to have a mouse that fits suitable in my left hand. There is really no replacement for gaming with your naturally dominant hand.”

The DeathAdder offers:
• 3500dpi Razer Precision 3.5G infrared sensor
• Ergonomic LEFT-HANDED design
• 1000Hz Ultrapolling™ / 1ms response
• Five independently programmable Hyperesponse™ buttons
• On-The-Fly Sensitivity™ adjustment
• Always-On™ mode
• Ultra-large non-slip buttons
• 16-bit ultra-wide data path
• 60–120 inches per second and 15g of acceleration
• Zero-acoustic Ultraslick Teflon feet
• Gold-plated USB connector
• Seven-Foot, lightweight, braided fiber cable
• Approximate size: 128mm (length) x 70mm (width) x 42.5mm (height)

Unexpectedly the mouse does not carry a price premium either, ringing it a $59.99 USD it begins shipping March 24th, 2010.

For the other cuddy-wifters out there, does the assure of a left hander normal gaming mouse interest you and could this be the start of device developers providing more left handed alternatives for their more popular right designed products?
