Error in Google Apps' Sync for Microsoft Outlook that in fact there for months is causing e-mail messages to stay in Gmail servers and not downloaded into Outlook, causing end users to ignore messages. End users in organizations found error have to check Gmail Web interface occasionally to ensure they are not lost e-mail messages in Outlook PC client.
Google recognized error on March 12 and assured repair for last week, but unable to send it. The new plan is to push solution by this week. "After we repair server side problem, we release automatic update that resynchronize mailbox to help make sure that mail that was not downloaded gets downloaded," said in Google Apps discussion.
It's not clear how extensive problem is or if particular conditions trigger it. Wesley wrote that error "primarily" affects end users who have not downloaded messages to Outlook for many days. Though, few Apps administrators face this assessment in threads, saying error has hit end users who haven't let messages accumulate in Gmail.
Google introduced Apps Sync for Outlook, free plug-in in 2009 to provide users choice to utilize Outlook to server-side Gmail and Calendar parts of Premier and Education editions of Apps hosted association and contact suite. Premier edition prices US$50, as Education edition is free.
Now Google introduced free server-side tool, Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange, to make simpler and automate migration of e-mail, calendar and contacts data from Exchange to Google Apps.
