In an effort to stop this fragmented, according to Engadget, Google will try to split the main features from the Operating System and putting them into update downloads for users.
Android Operating System is available in four different versions (1.5, 1.6, 2.0 and 2.1), used on about 20 devices, and some phone is not sold as of Sony Ericsson Xperia will be equipped with out of date versions of Android time. Thus, users will be confused, and Google seems to have felt this problem. Google will separate the applications and the Android standard components from the main Operating System, and users can download through the Android Market, the way Google is doing with Google Maps application.
It is known that this move will begin with the next version, code-named Android Froyo, and will keep on with version Gingerbread this means that even after including new features, users will be able to update quicker in a few weeks rather than waiting for equipment manufacturers or home network.
Sure anti-fragmented strategy for Android Operating System is still in research stage, but there is also significant. Many manufacturers have custom versions of Android, so it must be a better way to give updates main applications for users.
