Cisco just announced a new brand of consumer router, Cisco Valet. This is the first time since its purchase of Linksys in 2003 that the U.S. markets a router without the brand mascot.

For now, keep the Cisco Linksys brand for the most advanced models and for expert who have always received the blue and black routers. With this in mind, Cisco has declared the launch of the E1000 Linksys, E2000 and E3000. Compatible Wi-Fi N, the former offers 4-port Fast Ethernet and manages the 2.4 GHz, the second router is a dual band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with 4 Gigabit ports, like the last one that has a port USB and three more antennas instead of one for the E1000. They cost $ 79, $ 119 and $ 179 respectively.

Cisco is also releasing its first two models under the name Jack, the M10 and M20 also named Jack Plus. The first is compatible Wi-Fi No; it manages only 2.4 GHz and adds 4-port Fast Ethernet, Gigabit against four for the second, which remains the same. These routers are still unusual in using a USB dongle that serves and which simplifies the router configuration and make configuration on any machine. The M20 is priced at $ 150, against $ 100 for the M10 and $ 80 for the dongle.
Prices are high and one wonders if the extra cost is that it is also the first router made in alliance with the teams that developed the camera and Flip that Cisco bought last year or if the firm just take account of users being scared to configure their network.
