Western Digital (WD) declared VelociRaptor HDDs will hit the fastest ever. The drive circuit uses SATA 6Gbit/giay pairing, there are 450GB and 600GB capacities.
Drive New WD VelociRaptor doubles the capacity compared to the "predecessor" of it and still the HDD Serial ATA (SATA) 10,000 RPM (RPM) single market. It is designed for blade servers, servers often, high-performance PC, Mac, workstation professional.

With 32MB of onboard cache, using paired circuit 6Gbit/giay SATA, new drive performance increase of 15%. Suggested retail price of the WD VelociRaptor drive new 450GB model costs 299 $, 600GB model costs 329$, calculated the cost per GB substantially cheaper than SSD 2.5 Blue SiliconEdge that WD just launched.

VelociRaptor drive is the latest disk storage design 3 new; every platter can hold up to 200GB of data. It also has dual-core controller - an upgrade other than single-core chip's "predecessors."

VR200M VelociRaptor Drive 145MB/giay read speed, write speed 82MB/giay, data access time of around 7 millisecond random. For comparison, the previous model VelociRaptor 300GB 110MB/giay read speed, write speed 81MB/giay, data access time of about 10 millisecond random.
