The color screen and calibration, it is a fairly common problem. Even if the trend is toward screens set correctly, many styles are often unbalanced, with colors sometimes delusional. But Dell, which sells screens for the professional world, seems to make a factory calibration. Specifically, some screens are prepared at the factory not to exceed a deltaE through 5.
The deltaE, simply put, is an index that gives the color fidelity of a screen. Between 0 and 2.5, the colors are "perfect", above 5 colors do not conform to reality. Dell screens are therefore expected to, at worst, do not give too many colors "false", the latter can cause problems when working on a complete digital chain, especially when you have to go to print. In addition, Dell also check the gamma curves and color temperature of the screen.
Note however that if this procedure is interesting for the general public or for professional use "simple", those who really need colors were still faithful to flip through probe calibration. Remember also that some professional screen directly integrate a sensor, which is obviously the best way to get accurate color.
