If one believes the analyst firm Gartner, the year 2010 should be much better than the previous one for the IT market. Thus if IT spending in 2009 fell 4.5% to 3,200 billion dollars in 2010 according to Gartner should post growth of 5.3% of these expenditures, reaching 3,400 billion dollars. Forecasts that are much more optimistic than last October, the firm waited then a reprise of "only" 3.3%. The increase is due, in part, by changes in the value of the greenback.

Equipment

This is the hardware sector that should benefit most from this recovery, with growth forecast of 5.7%. Much better than the 12.5% recorded in 2009, this industry, however, should not find its 2008 level until 2014. Also that this growth should be paid mostly by the general public and home offices, larger companies are still a bit chilly to start to invest heavily. Their expenses should be focused on storage, virtualization and cloud computing.

Software, services, telecom

On the side of the software industry, is expected to increase by 5.1% in 2010, representing a market worth 232 billion dollars. The services sector, driven by the SaaS offerings, projected to grow by 5.7% to 821 billion dollars. Finally, the telecommunications market, driven by mobile technologies, is expected to reach 2,000 billion dollars in 2010, an increase of 5.1%.
For 2011, analysts at Gartner believe that growth should slow down a bit and reach 4.2%. If of course the global economic conditions do not deteriorate again by then.
